Clinical Consultation for Providers working with LGBTQ+ Folks in Pennsylvania

Gender Identity Therapy in Camp Hill, PA

I believe gender-affirming care is lifesaving and respects each person’s bodily autonomy.

If you’re a provider who supports LGBTQ+ folks in Pennsylvania, including transgender and gender non-conforming clients, you know that their experiences can come with unique challenges, stressors, and joys.

You may find yourself working with a client whose needs fall outside your current training or experience. And though you want to provide thoughtful, affirming care, you don't feel confident about what that looks like in practice.

That’s where clinical consultation can help.

This is especially important when it comes to accessing gender-affirming care.

Gender Affirming Care is Life Saving Care

My mission is to reduce gatekeeping to gender-affirming medical care.

As such, I consult with therapists on how to best provide informed, affirming services to their LGBTQ+ clients.

I offer consultation to providers around:

  • Writing gender-affirming care letters

  • LGBTQ+-specific clinical issues

Training for Gender Affirming Care Letters

Access to gender affirming care should not be a privilege reserved for a select few.

I believe it’s a basic human right. That’s why I’m passionate about teaching fellow providers how to support their clients through the process of obtaining gender-affirming care letters.

My goal is to help you support your clients with a simple and affirming process that doesn’t stigmatize or re-traumatize them, but instead gives them the support they need to access care.

Consulting with Clinicians on LGBTQ+ Specific Issues

Gender Identity Therapist in Camp Hill, PA

Members of the LGBTQ+ community face unique challenges that you may not have encountered in your clinical work before.

Your client may come to therapy for support with things like:

  • Working through internalized homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, and other harmful messages they’ve absorbed

  • Breaking away from cisgender, heteronormative expectations, such as the pressure to get married or have children

  • Figuring out if it’s safe to come out at home, and what to do if it isn’t

  • Navigating coming out to family members and friends

  • Supporting a child who has come out, including navigating challenging or unsupportive parents

  • Setting boundaries with people who may not accept or affirm their identity, including coworkers, family members, or people in their social circles

  • Advocating for themselves and their needs in the workplace

You may understand the basics of LGBTQ+ affirming care but still find yourself unsure about how to best support your client.

As a provider with 4 years experience in offering consultation informally for LGBTQ+ clinical needs (both individually and in group settings) I can help you unpack these situations so you can learn the best way to support your client.

You’ll leave consultation with a clear picture of what your client is experiencing, confidence on how to guide them in these scenarios, and concrete strategies you can use right away.

What is the Process, Cost and Time Commitment for Clinical Consultations for Providers?

Consultations last 60 minutes and give you space to bring a question or topic you’d like guidance on. The investment per session is $200.

Some consultations are client specific, such as navigating how to talk with parents about a kiddo being LGBTQ+. Others are more generalized such as how to write WPATH letters.

It’s up to you, the clinician, to choose the topics and scenarios that you want to address.

My aim is to support providers in learning and building concrete skills to apply when working with LGBTQ+ folks.
