Life in Mechanicsburg offers small-town charm and a more relaxed pace that many residents appreciate. But living in a smaller town, with many familiar faces, doesn’t necessarily mean you feel truly seen and understood by those around you.  If you’re an adult who identifies as transgender or gender non-conforming, you may find yourself facing unique challenges in the community or in your relationships. You may be struggling to voice your emotions and clearly communicate your needs.

Your LGBTQIA+ identity shapes how you see the world, connect with others, and make decisions. But being LGBTQIA+ is just one part of who you are. We recognize the complexity of your identities (race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, etc.) and how they all influence your experience as an LGBTQ+ individual.

Cisgender and heteronormative expectations can hold you back from living authentically. At First Brick Counseling, I help you explore your identity on your terms, free from judgment and societal pressure.

Is it time to break free from society’s expectations?

The way you see the world, connect with others, and make decisions is shaped by your LGBTQ+ identity. But being LGBTQ+ is just one part of who you are. We recognize the intersectionality of your identities (race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, etc) and how they all influence your experience as an LGBTQ+ individual.

Additional FAQs

Do you offer services in person or online?

1

I conduct all therapy sessions in person at my office, as my ADHD can make it difficult for me to focus during online sessions. This workplace accommodation helps me to ensure that I can provide you with the best possible service.

What is your cancellation policy?

2

First Brick Counseling requires at least 24 hours' notice to cancel a session. If you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours' notice, you will be charged a late cancellation fee of $100. If you no-show an appointment, you will be charged the full $180 session fee.

How long do I need to be in therapy?

3

There is no predetermined answer to this question. Therapy is a deeply personal process that varies from person to person. Your personal goals will affect how long you stay in therapy. Some people need only a few sessions, while others stay in therapy for a few years. We will discuss discharge planning on an ongoing basis so you can provide feedback and know what to expect.
