First Brick Counseling believes gender-affirming care is lifesaving and recognizes the importance of bodily autonomy. My mission is to reduce gatekeeping access to gender-affirming medical care. As such, I offer evaluations to provide a letter for gender-affirming care for Pennsylvania residents ages 18+ without requiring ongoing therapy. After the evaluation process, I will prepare a gender-affirming surgical letter to support your documentation needs.

Some insurance companies or doctors require documentation from a mental health professional when a transgender or gender non-conforming individual pursues gender-affirming medical care. Whereas cisgender individuals do not have any mental health requirements to pursue similar procedures.

Gender Affirming Care is Life Saving Care
The gender-affirming letter evaluation will go through all required information in accordance with the World Professional Association on Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care 8 (SOC8).
This service is available to adults residing within the state of Pennsylvania. We can complete the evaluation via telehealth or in person.

How long is the evaluation process?

The evaluation is scheduled for 60 minutes. A thorough evaluation may require more than one session (at the discretion of the therapist).
How long until my gender-affirming letter is available?

Your letter will be available approximately one week following the session.
What if I can’t afford the fee?

I understand gender affirming care is also life-saving care and purposely offer this service with a sliding scale rate of $100-$200. You are welcome to choose the rate that works best for you.
